Additionally you may also try creating your own garland of gum wrapper hearts by using needle and thread, use them as cushioning materials for small gift boxes or even attach a few of these onto DIY pop-up cards. Once applied let the gum dry up completely before sending these handmade hearts to your lover or other close friends. Therefore to prevent such instances, putting small dots of glue between the layers or around the corners is highly advised. How to preserve the gum wrapper heart?Īlthough aluminium foil gum wrappers are usually sturdy enough to maintain the origami shape, the ridges might get loose under pressure. But beware, if not done properly you may end up losing your gum wrapper heart origami. This can be done using a plastic card, a sharpener or even a paper cutter. Source Step 3: Sharpening the creasesįinally, for an overall softer finish, you will need to smoothen the creases. Align the two folded sides evenly and bend protruding edges for a smoother finish. The wrapper should now look like the image below. When doing this ensure the folding is done perfectly at the middle part of the wrapper.įollow the same for the next side. Afterwards, take one of these sides and fold them to get a L-shaped figure. The point is what gives the heart its final shape and therefore folding it evenly is highly necessary. Once done, start by folding the top and bottom corners into a triangle. This will allow you ample space to work through the next procedures without risking the shape of the final result. For long wrappers, it is better to fold them back into the original form as they came in. So, the first step to getting the perfect heart is to conscientiously trim the extra parts until you have a square. Gum wrappers are generally rectangular in shape. I have actually made these paper rings out of the rectangular chewing gum paper or even an old fashioned bus ticket or till receipt.Below, we have described this entire process in easy-to-understand steps. origami-elephant-top corners folded again. One of a gem cutter’s tasks is to make a finished product with even color. Other names for green quartz are vermarine or lime citrine.Īmethyst frequently shows color zoning, with the most intense color typically found at the crystal terminations. Green quartz is sometimes incorrectly called green amethyst this is a misnomer and not an appropriate name for the material, as the proper terminology is prasiolite. These pale colors were once considered undesirable, but have recently become popular due to intensive marketing. "Rose de France" is defined by its markedly light shade of the purple, reminiscent of a lavender/ lilac shade. The ideal grade, called "Deep Siberian", has a primary purple hue of around 75–80%, with 15–20% blue and (depending on the light source) red secondary hues. High-quality amethyst can be found in Siberia, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Uruguay, and the Far East. Amethyst may exhibit one or both secondary hues, red and blue. The hardness of the mineral is the same as quartz, thus making it suitable for use in jewelry.Īmethyst occurs in primary hues from a light lavender or pale violet to a deep purple. Ancient Greeks wore amethyst and carved drinking vessels from it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication.Īmethyst, a semiprecious stone, is often used in jewelry.Īmethyst is a purple variety of quartz (SiO 2) and owes its violet color to irradiation, impurities of iron and in some cases other transition metals, and the presence of other trace elements, which result in complex crystal lattice substitutions. The name comes from the Koine Greek αμέθυστος amethystos from α- a-, "not" and μεθύσκω ( Ancient Greek) methysko / μεθώ metho ( Modern Greek), "intoxicate", a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness. 6-sided prism ending in 6-sided pyramid (typical)Ģ.65 constant variable in impure varietiesĪmethyst is a violet variety of quartz. If I saw a new feature or improvement I thought we should add to one of my team’s apps I would do so, but in isolation from those other teams. When I was leading the iOS team and later both the Mac and iOS team, I would routinely find out about things the Windows and Android team had done when I read about it on our blog. Meanwhile, the Android and Windows developers did the same, but in a manner that was very siloed from the other platform developers.Īs time went on and those teams grew, that separation and mode of working remained largely the same. They added features, shipped updates, and continued on the path of making great software for Apple’s platforms. While that was happening, the original team went back to working on the Mac and iPhone apps. They were given the file format specification, shown the Mac and iPhone apps, and given free-rein to create a 1Password app for their platforms. Not long after, we expanded to include Windows and Android, hiring a developer for each of those platforms. At that time syncing your data across devices was largely relegated to using Dropbox to host an encrypted 1Password file that could be read and updated by any of your 1Password apps connected to your Dropbox account. When Apple announced the iPhone SDK that same team moved on to that platform and created the first version of 1Password for iPhone. The first version of 1Password was a Mac app with a small team of four dedicated to it. This weekend project quickly took over their day job and spawned a whole company and industry. They got tired of manually filling in usernames, passwords, and contact information to test the sites they were building and figured they could build a tool to automate that. The very first version of 1Password was built by Dave and Roustem as a weekend project to help them with their day jobs of building websites. With a fifteen year history, 1Password has seen a lot of changes across all our supported platforms, but the way we’ve built our apps has largely been the same over those years. ĭon’t have a practice exam? With a global gross of US$709 million dollars it was the lowest-grossing of the five Spider-Man films up to that time. They did it in a hurry – Amazing Spider-Man 2 tries to launch at least three films – and they did it very poorly. So much potential is wasted and ruined, because Sony saw the success that Marvel Studios was finding with an interconnected community of films and – knowing the value of what they had in Spider-Man – tried to generate their own shared universe. A climactic plot point that should hold enormous weight happens so arbitrarily that its potential is left utterly wasted, and besides it is foreshadowed with such glaring obviousness that half the audience expected it to happen anyway. Then he actually turns up as the Goblin, and the film becomes remarkably embarrassing. This is usually a weak point for superhero movies, but the development of Harry Osborn as the Green Goblin made narrative sense and progressed in a believable manner. In the lead-up to Spider-Man’s final fight against Electro I was impressed at how well the film had organically generated multiple villains. The film staggers quite badly at its climax. The action sequences are also for the most part well shot and choreographed. I’m usually not one to marvel at visual effects – they’re there to tell a story, so individual pieces of eye candy aren’t typically worth mentioning – but the work here looks genuinely impressive. Visually the film looks great, particularly the visual effects used to bring Electro to life. Paul Giamatti is weirdly inserted into the film’s beginning and end as Alexei Sytsevich, aka the ridiculously unconvincing super-villain the Rhino, and simply feels like yet more foreshadowing for The Amazing Spider-Man 3. The supporting cast are similarly strong, notably Jamie Foxx, Sally Field, Colm Feore and a wonderfully creepy Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn. It has been some years since I published this review, and can only reiterate that an unrelated Garfield/Stone romantic comedy would be very welcome. Emma Stone is similarly great as love interest Gwen Stacy, and the two actors share a brilliant chemistry. Andrew Garfield is a near-perfect Spider-Man, managing to do that ‘cheerful working class dude who can’t cut a break’ schtick in a way never quite achieved by predecessor Tobey Maguire (too bleak) or successor Tom Holland (working class woes mean nothing if your best friend is a billionaire). The acting, for example, is difficult to fault. In between there’s a movie that’s amiable, and often enjoyable, but far too weakly put together to fully recommend. The story appears to straddle across the film rather than fill it: it picks up on a string of plot threads from 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man and finishes with a bunch of stuff left over for a sequel. The film has a beginning, a middle and an end, but they’re all just a little too unfocused and flabby. This is actually a difficult movie to describe in a sentence, because the majority of its 142 minutes are devoted to cross-film story arcs and subplots, without a lot of space left over from a strong narrative through-line. When an industrial accident transforms the shy engineer Max Dillon into the super-powered villain Electro, Parker has to stop him before he destroys all of New York.Īnd so on and so forth. In The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (released with the unnecessary subtitle Rise of Electro in Australia) Peter Parker continues to fight crime while vacillating over his relationship with Gwen Stacy and reuniting with his childhood friend Harry Osborn. Let’s jump back almost eight years to take a look at Garfield’s last turn as headliner. At the same time I worry that his fans forget why there never was an Amazing Spider-Man 3 in the first place. To an extent I understand the urge Garfield was great in the role of Peter Parker, and the second of his two Spider-Man features ended on a wide-open note. There has been a weird rise in Internet chatter lately from Spider-Man fans demanding that Sony – in addition to continuing their hugely successful films with Marvel Studios – jump back in time and commission a third Amazing Spider-Man movie starring Andrew Garfield.
